Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Components\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbers]\[LongStringOfLettersAndNumbe rs]" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows

I keep getting this message every time I try to install iTunes:

Could not open key:

UNKNOWN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8

\b25099274a207264182f8181add555d0.

Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

I have tried the suggestions on this post (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3581) three times already, and it has not worked.

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Try running the installer as the administrator. The the Microsoft program install and uninstall utility mentioned in note 1 below the second box.

The same message shows up three times before it installs, than a when I try to open iTunes this message shows up

I've tried installing Apple Application Support but this message is still coming up whenever I try to open iTunes.

So while iTunes is installed I cannot open it. So I still need help.

You could try exporting any existing key shown in the error messages, then delete it. This may allow a subsequent attempt to install Apple Application Support to succeed. See Install missing components for steps to install individual components.

I finally have my iTunes back! I had to go into Control Panel > System and Security > Action Center. Then click on Recovery > Open System Restore.

A new window opened up.

I ticked Choose a different restore point. Then,

I selected Removed Apple Application Support, It restored it to before I forced an uninstall of iTunes and deleted all the files relating to iTunes.

Then when trying to re-install iTunes a message about iTunes6464.msi showed up. I finally after about 3 hours found this video that helped.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYk0aa4eRt8) Now I finally have my iTunes back!

That video is a painfully slow and annoying way of transmitting the information given in this box of the user tip: Missing MSI errors. Sorry you didn't spot it there first. 😕
