Q: stoping email after send button pushed

I have accidentally send 4 emails with an attachment to the same address.  It is large and won't be appreciated at the other end. How do I stop 3  or all of them going?

If they are hung up in the sending process, you might be able to stop them in the Activity window. However, if they have already been sent, there is no stopping an email once sent.

Once sent, they're sent.  You can't undo it.  If you can, call the person and tell them that you accidentally sent the same e-mail four times, and to disregard three of them.  I'm sure they'll understand, accidents happen.

Thank you for your answers.  I finally solved my dilemma by turning off the WiFi and quitting Mail.  After several hours - I was doing other things that did not require me to use the computer - I reconnected the Wi-Fi and opened mail - the messages had been stopped and deleted.

It's a shame that Apple do not provide this option.  I remember stopping previous emails, but that may have been before I changed from Eudora to Mail.

You must have an exceptionally slow wifi connection. Once send is hit the sending should go almost immediately, at least faster than you could think about and then disconnect the wifi and quit Mail.

    Hi Bob,

The internet was not too slow I have ADSL 2+ (Broadband is not even being started in my area for another 2-3 years), - I can stream films without any problems.  The 4 emails I sent totalled about 5-6 GB with the attachment. and I had closed my computer down several times. It was from realising that once I closed everything down (I'm at home not at work) this was delaying the sending.  Thus my actions.

    Cheers

OK, 5-6 GB email will take a lot of time to leave the outbox. Don't try the same procedure with a small email as you won't be fast enough.
