Q: IMac 21.5inch Mid 2011 Ram Support - Confirmation

Dear Friends,

I have purchased this RAM (Kingston KVR16LS11/8) 8GB PC3L-12800 CL11 x 2 pieces (16GB combined) and installed on my IMac 21.5 Mid 2011 for testing purposes. It boots and works fine. But as known to some earlier limitations stated, RAM clocked at 1333mhz instead of 1600mhz. Apart from that, it works flawlessly. Still left 2 empty slots to confirm the 32GB support with this low voltage RAMs. And out of curiosity, i tried this RAMs on my friends Macbook pro 15 Early 2011, it did clocked at 1600mhz. So for those out there still in dilemma about Ram support info, hopefully this will lighten up the search. But no guarantee though. hahahahahha.

cheers !!!

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2), Windows 10 Installed

yes mike, im aware of such problems too. but for my case, more than 8 months of usage (mix usage), i never encountered any issues so far. (even my bootcamp windows performs well).

as i purchased this ram for testing purposes only, ended up using them since no issues encountered so far. But lots of online forums and even discussions here states issues and panics. Which really drives the curiosity in me to further with my experiments.

for your info, i have customised my imac without any official apple certified products so far for years. And no issues encountered though. Using Kingston Hyper X 3k 480gb ssd in main HDD bay, no fan or sensor issues. Second bay using third party cable for power up ssd, no issues. ODD drive removed and installed 3rd HDD with custom tray kit (some china made i guess), no issues. My retina mbp, upgraded my ssd with third party kit and bigger capacity ssd, way cheaper than original apple ssd and performs way better (1 year plus and on going).

this raises questions on the latest IMacs and Macbooks (almost no user upgradable parts), which enables Apple to squeeze more out of our pockets and denying the upgrade possibility for some older products which really can be upgraded with almost any third party brands out there (not just crucial or etc). And the place i live in, its quite hard for us to get hands on crucial, corsair or related brands.

anyway, i will keep on updating of any issues or findings regarding this RAM.

Thanks for the highlight and keep in touch boss.
