Jan 11, 2016 8:50 AM in response to Maraciernoby Bob Timmons,What device do you call your "main" AirPort router? If this is an AirPort Extreme or another Time Capsule do you have the current "tower" shaped version, or an older "flat or square" version of the product? If this is an AirPort Express, do you have the one port Ethernet version, or the two port Ethernet version?
Is your "main" AirPort now set up and operating correctly?
And, all that you want to do is connect the Time Capsule using Ethernet to extend the network?
Have you tested the Ethernet cable to make sure that it is operating correctly?

Jan 14, 2016 4:23 PM in response to Bob Timmonsby Maracierno,Bob, Thanks for your questions: I have an Airport Time Capsule tower that is connected to the cable modem. It is not an express. The Airport is set up now but it has been kicking us off the network and creating a bit of a problem getting on the network at times.
Above, it says to change the names of all the routers to the same name and when I try to follow the directions, it does not line up with what I see on the screen.
Any help with connecting my old Linksys to extend the network and assistance with being dropped from the network would be greatly appreciated!

Jan 14, 2016 6:11 PM in response to Maraciernoby Bob Timmons,If you have set up the AirPort Time Capsule to provide a wireless network........what is the next device that will connect to the AirPort Time Capsule?
How will it connect to the Time Capsule? By that, I mean will the device connect to the Time Capsule using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection, or will it connect to the Time Capsule using a wireless connection?
I have not worked with a Linksys product for some time, and doubt that I can provide any "hands" on advice for that product.

Jan 14, 2016 7:18 PM in response to Bob Timmonsby Maracierno,The next device would be the Linksys. Via ethernet. I was looking to see what my screens should say as they do not look like the screens shown in the instructional page.
I really would like help with the dropped connections too. Do you have any thoughts? The 1 and 2 star reviews on the Time Capsule tend to mirror my issues and all have returned them to Apple.
Thanks!

I cannot provide hands on advice with Linksys, but can tell you from working with their products in the past that you will need to get in touch with Linksys support to ask them how to configure (and if it is possible) to set up the Linksys device as a Wireless Access Point, or WAP, as it is known.
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the three LAN <--> ports on the Time Capsule to the WAN port on the Linksys.
The Linksys would be set up to provide a wireless network with the same wireless network name, same wireless security and same password as the Time Capsule network.

Sorry, not sure what document that you are referring to here.
If you are looking at an Apple support document that is linked at the top of this thread, it will indicate how to connect the TC to other Apple routers......but not a 3rd party product like Linksys. Since the TC is already set up, and you are not connecting another Apple router.....an Apple document.....if that is what you are looking at......will really not be relevant to the Linkys router.
If you are looking at a Linksys support document, I would not be familiar with that, but will take a look if you have a link to the article.
