Q: Using Apple Watch - How can I continously monitor my heart rate during a workout

Using Apple Watch - How can I continously monitor my heart rate during a workout?

Your heart rate. What it means, and where on Apple Watch you’ll find it. - Apple Support

According to this link it should be available - But I cannot find it on my apple watch?

Is there a setting that needs to be turned on somewhere? The only place I can see the heart rate is on the glances menu and it only stays for a few seconds? and takes a while to show the heart rate.

    Hi

When you record a workout using the built-in Workout app, your heart rate will be measured continuously throughout the workout. During workouts, you can also choose which primary metric is shown on your watch face, with choices including heart rate. At the end of the workout, results include heart rate data. Workouts are also saved to the Activity app on your iPhone.

During the workout, to change the main metric shown on the watch face, swipe sideways on it. Depending upon your activity type, choices may include: elapsed time, active calories, total calories, heart rate, pace, speed and distance.

    More information:

Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Use the Activity app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Health and fitness data from Apple Watch, iPhone and other sources is also aggregated within the Health app on iPhone. Combined data is reflected in the Health app Dashboard, which adjusts results to avoid any double counting of data from different sources.

To see heart rate data from Apple Watch and any other sources (eg a Bluetooth chest strap monitor):

    - On your iPhone, in the Health app (icon has a red heart on a white background), go to: Health Data (tab) > Vitals > Heart Rate.

Data is shown in chart form (this can be added to the Health app Dashboard by enabling the setting here) and also as individual data points (via Show All Data).

Thanks but, Those links do not show how to view the heart rate during a work out.

Here is a page that shows the option - but It is not available on my watch.

Measure your heart rate with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

I would like to be able to know what my heart rate is so I can keep it at a certain level by working harder or slowing down.

During the workout, to change the main metric / progress measure that is shown on the watch face, swipe sideways on it (left or right).

Depending upon your activity type, choices may include: elapsed time, active calories, total calories, heart rate, pace, speed and distance.

i have tried that many times - can select activities such as: elapsed time, active calories, total calories, pace, speed and distance - but not heart rate.

Also why does the post say solved ? Can I undo that?

It is possible that Power Saving Mode is turned on.

To check this, on your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch > Workout - if it is presently enabled, turn off Power Saving Mode.

(Once marked, it is not possible to change solved status on a reply).
