Q: Creating snapshots from video footage in iMovie 10.1

How do I create snapshots from video footage? The control F button or Add Freeze Frame doesn't create a separate frozen image. It creates a frozen image as part of the same video clip. I need a separate clip with the frozen image. Can anyone help?
