Q: USB-C to Thunderbolt connection

Wondering if anyone knows of any progress on connecting a MacBook USB-C to an Apple Thunderbolt display?  Love the MacBook for travel, but need a larger display for doing more complex work...... Thanks!

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

I wouldn't count on it happening. The USB-C connection on the MacBook is limited to 5 Gbps by design.

Thunderbolt 1 is 10 Gbps and Thunderbolt 2 is 20 Gbps, so, if you do the math, there will never be a Thunderbolt adapter that would work with the current Retina MacBook.

The Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Display requires a Mac with a Thunderbolt port, that would include all currently shipping Macs with the exception of the MacBook.
