Q: iPad won't sync to my Mac iTunes

Recently bought a new iPad Air2 and it won't sync with iTunes on my Mac. Every time I plug it in to my computer it gives a message "The iPad cannot be used because it requires a newer version of iTunes. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." I've done that and checked for updates through iTunes on my Mac but it says the latest version is already running, which is 11.4. I know that there are later versions but don't know how to get that on my Mac. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

iTunes 11.4 is the latest version that can be run ... on your version of OS X.  The problem is that your OS X is old and you need a newer one.

The current version of OS X is 10.11.2.  The current version of iTunes is 12.3.2, which requires at least OS X 10.8.5 to run.

You have not told us about your Mac.  This article explains how to get the current OS X (El Capitan), and what machines and prerequisites are required to get it.

Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

So if you can, you should:

    • Upgrade to El Capitan
    • Go to the App Store and update all software (from the Updates tab)
