privacy for email/texts/missed calls

Hi Y'all

I am just starting out in the corporate world. I'm 53, and am getting my Bachelor's in Health Science in May. Woo hoo!

My mentor has told me I need to be careful regarding the notifications on my new iPhone 6s Plus. He said the notifications can cause trouble. This is what he is referring to: say I am at a lunch or conference with a company and their competition, who I also sell to, wouldn't like seeing my phone light up with their info. You know, some companies think you give one a better deal than the other. Anyway, I don't like turning my notifications completely off. But, how can I fix the email to only say "You have 3 emails" without giving the name of the sender? I know Android uses that type all the time. Is there an app in iTunes that would allow for that anonymity? I would HAPPILY pay for any app that can possibly keep me out of hot water with other customers who might not understand a girl has to make a living too!

Thanks Y'all!

For texts, go to Settings>Notifications>Messages>Show Preview>Off.

For email, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Mail>Preview>None.

Get in the habit of keeping your phone turned face down or better yet, put away, when you're having a business lunch or meeting. Your customers will appreciate the fact that you're paying more attention to them than your phone. It may even give you a leg up over the "kids" who can't stop looking at their phones. 😉
