Me.com Over Quota, how to remove?

I have been having this issue for months.

My iCloud account which for example is lets say a@icloud.com.

In there it says my mail storage is using 5.2 GB yet, in iCloud mail, there is not a single email.

Like the whole thing is empty.

And when I send an email to my email, which is a@mydomain.com, I get a reply from let's say a@me.com saying:

Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:

Recipient address: a@me.com
Reason: Over quota.

So how do I remove this a@me.com email from my iCloud account?

Please help, this is very annoying. Everyone who sends me any email gets this stupid reply.

Yes, I have.

I have contacted Apple support, they too couldn't help me.

I cannot remove my account and make a new one because that will make me lose all my purchased apps.

I have been stuck on a dead end since 6 months now. Please help.

One thing I did notice is that in iCloud.com mail, when I choose to empty the Thrash folder, I get an error message after 5 minutes, saying that thrash cannot be emptied at this moment. This error hasn't gone away in months either.

Apple Support never bothered escalating the issue to their engineers? I find that you ongoing and unsolved issue has been allowed to go on for so long which is truly unacceptable.

I performed a rudimentary search of your issue, on Google, and I also came across other folks that have encountered the same issue with what appears to be no clear cut resolution.

They did, they sent my call to Singapore and they weren't able to fix my issue either.

Eventually the call disconnected and they didn't bother calling me back either.

There doesn't seem to be any solution over the internet and Apple support engineer themselves don't know what is going in their own data center.

I don't know what to do.

Am I supposed to make a new account and lose all my previously purchased apps?

Is that what Apple excepts me to do?

I really don't think you need to go ahead and create a new account. Have you considered going into an Apple store and making an appointment to meet with the folks at the Genius bar? I think you should consider doing that first before anything.

I couldn't help but notice from the image you provided, that you're using the Chrome browser. Now have you tried resolving this issue with another browser, let's say Safari?
