Q: Dismiss Calendar notification resends meeting invite!

If I Dismiss a Calendar notification for an upcoming meeting it causes the meeting invite to be resent to all the attendees.  This is very annoying.

I suspect the problem only happens on recurring meetings with more than one person, and the calendar server is Microsoft Exchange.  I am pretty sure the problem is with the Apple Calendar app as other Watch apps like Informant do not cause the problem.

A similar problem was reported in the Yosemite forum, which also affected Watch notifications.

Re: Calendar resending Exchange meeting invitations every morning

Does anyone know of a solution/workaround, or is there anyone who uses Exchange for meetings that is not having this problem?

Thanks.

    Hi

As suggested in the thread that you referenced, a workaround may be to dismiss notifications only after their associated events have ended.

To try this on Apple Watch:

    - After reading a notification, instead of tapping on a button within the alert or swiping to dismiss it, press once on the Digital Crown.

    - This will return you to the notifications list in Notification Centre without dismissing the notification alert.

It may also help to check with your administrator that Exchange Server is up to date (they may also be able to provide further diagnostic information by checking the server log files).

iPhone 6s Plus/iOS 9.2, Apple Watch 2.1, Office 365 calendar account from work.

Same bug here. In testing this out, you do not need a recurring meeting, I was able to consistently replicate the defect with a single, non-recurring meeting invite. You just have to have 1 attendee invited to the meeting (doesn't have to be on the Exchange server), and when I press the "Dismiss" button on the reminder on the watch, it resends the meeting invite to everyone. I can see the invite being sent in my Sent Items in Outlook just a few seconds after hitting the Dismiss button. I asked a co-worker also with an Apple watch to try it out, and they had the same problem.

Please let us know when this defect is fixed.

    Thanks,

I have exactly the same behavior w/o an Apple Watch, but from the notification in Mac OS X El Capitan. Dismissing the notification results in sending the invite again. Very annoying, because I have meetings with many attendees, they all get the  invitation again, and thus have to respond. It is an Apple bug.
