my phone has stopped sending messages to one person. gives me error code states invalid number. the number is on my own account and has been there for years and never changed.

Just maybe the issue is with the other person phone, since you're able to message everyone else.
all phones are on my account. will that still make a difference. and i was able to message before. issue started 2 days ago. have not updated software on my phone nor downloaded any apps

That is a good question to ask your phone carrier. Texting is a carrier feature.
