mac server link aggregation not working

I'm using a Mac mini on 10.10.5 with a thunderbold/ethernet adapter to provide the second ethernet port. I've set up link aggregation on the mini just as they suggest. But it doesn't seem to be able to connect to the Netgear Smartswitch GS748Tv5. The switch does support both static and LACP aggregation but so far neither can communicate to the other through the aggregate link. They work great when only a single ethernet is connecting them, but not through aggregation. I have another backup raid drive connected by the switch through link aggregation and it appears fine, just not the server.

Any suggestions what to do next?

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Running Apple Server v5.0.15

First off, what does the Network preferences dialog have to say about it? Usually it gives pretty good feedback as to the state of the links. Does it think they're up/functioning yet no traffic is passing? or does it report a problem.

Second, and orthogonal to the problem, is what you expect/hope to achieve via this anyway. If you have two devices on your network (e.g. one host and one NAS device) then you likely won't see any appreciable difference in throughput due to the way that LACP works - traffic to/from specific host pairs will always use the same link. LACP is only an advantage when you have multiple hosts in play, so that the individual streams can be divided between the links, but traffic between any two given hosts will always use the same link.

If you have more than one host trying to access the NAS device, then it may make some sense to add LACP to the NAS, to improve throughput to the array (although it's still likely to be throttled by the disk speed).

1) The Network preferences registers no active links. No DHCP, router or subnet. Only the hardcoded DNS and search directory. Under the Advanced tab it says that it neither receives or can send data, and has no partner.

The Netgear GS748Tv5 on the other hand says that it is bonded and 'waiting'.

2) The goal is primarily to get more data in/out faster. This mini is the hub of business file sharing network and it tends to 'top out' on busy days causing appreciable delays on the files. I'm hoping that I can get more people moving more files faster. I have a network storage device and it has significantly improved with link aggregation plus it shows that the switch does have the ability.
