Q: cannot sync Calendar on iPhone 5 or iPhone 6 to iCal Server (OS X v10.7.5) since upgrading to iOS 9.2

We have a Mac Mini Server running (OS X v10.7.5) which hosts our iCal to share a Common calendar using the account named "ShareCal"

 

This has worked perfectly for several years on a mix of iPhones (4s, 5, 5s 6 & 6 Plus) and still works perfectly on every iPhone with iOS prior to 9.x

 

Several TEAM members have upgraded their iOS to version 9.x and since that time have been unable to sync the Shared Calendar.

 

We have tried deleting the CalDAV account and re-creating only to receive the error "Cannot Connect Using SSL" then Unable to verify account information.

 

Several suggestions in the community have been tried such as logging out of iCloud, resetting network settings, upgrading to iOS 9.2.  All of which have NOT worked.

 

The only thing which has worked is to use the Local IP Address of the iCal Server with our internal Wi-Fi and BINGO, this works.  Of course replacing with the Public IP Address fails.

 

Those who upgraded their iOS do NOT have a backup to revert to so we are reaching out to the community if anyone has some suggestions.

 

The account is setup as follows on each iPhone as follows:

   Server: ###.###.###.### (Public Static IP Address)

User Name: ShareCal

Password: *******

Description Shared iCal

 

Advanced Settings:

Use SSL: On/Checked

Port: 7443

Account URL: https://###.###.###.###:7443/principals.....
