How can I type curly brackets on a Macbook Air?

How can I type curly brackets on a Macbook Air?. Finally I found how: Shift + Alt + 8 for "{" or Shift + Alt + 9 for "}". I guess it is in the same number position as the normal brackets: Shift + 8 = "(" and shift + 9 = ")". For Curved brackets Alt + 8 = "[" and Alt + 9 = "]".
