Q: Transferring Final Cut Pro 7 to a Mac Mini
I have had Final Cut Pro 7 on my MacBook Pro Classic, running OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks, for a couple of years. I cannot update my MacBook Pro because FCP 7 will not work with either Yosemite or El Capitan. I want to update my MacBook Pro, but I want to keep FCP 7. A family friend gave me his old Mac Mini running OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard, so I was wondering if I could transfer my data over to the Mac Mini without losing my license for FCP 7. Is this something that can be done with Migration Assistant?

You can't migrate the program...the applications. Those you need to install from the original DVDs. Because there are components all over the System and Library that Migration Assistant doesn't grab. So, you need to install and update fresh. The project files themselves can be copied over fine.
