itunes not adding folder to library error occured 1001

When trying to add a folder to I tunes I get the usual converting wma to aac message, when I click convert I get a message box stating an unknown error occurred (1001) at the bottom left hand corner it says + 10 total errors, when I click on the + it shows 1 unknown error occurred (1001) and 9 unknown error occurred (-54). This same folder used to be on my iTunes but took it off at some point. The problem has only started since upgrading windows to Windows 10. Can someone help me resolve this issue.

The folder is an album I downloaded on to my pc direct from official cd

iPhone 5c, null

I should have made it clear that folder properties will still show as read-only after you perform the permissions repair steps. I've just updated the user tip to this effect. iTunes cannot convert protected WMA, but I would assume (bad move) it would issue a more meaningful error if that were the problem.

It might pay to copy the WMA files to a folder (which you create) such as ..\iTunes\iTunes Media\WMA to Convert\ before you attempt to add them to the library.
