    Hey Nolaninc,

If you are having an issue with your iMac not powering on at all - no response when pushing the power button - I would suggest that you reset the System Management Controller. See the steps in this article - Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac,

    Specifically -

On Mac Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and Xserve

To reset the SMC on Intel-based Mac Pro, iMac, and Mac mini computers, as well as Xserve:

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

If this does not resolve your issue, or I have not understood what is going on, please post back with further information so that we may determine the best course of action, including -

    • Complete description of symptoms.
    • Which model of iMac you have?
    • What version of the Mac OS is installed?
    • What is connected to the iMac?
    • Anything changed internally with the iMac, such as RAM.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Happy computing.

Brett I was able to use the trouble support page to resolve my issue. While using my iMac to try to print a document my iMac would not communicate with my printer so I decided to restart my iMac to see if I could establish communications with my printer. When my iMac started to reboot the normal screen came up with the apple logo and the progress bar below it. About half way through the process my iMac just shut down i tried restarting but had the same issue. The next day I logged onto apples web sight with my iPad to try to find a solution. One recommendation was to start the iMac then hold down the D key to start in Diagnostic mode so I tried this and it worked I was able to run the Diagnostic mode and it came up with a code ADP000 and indicated that not problem was found. So while in safe mode I used my Time Machine backup to restore my system and it 's now working fine.
