Jan 12, 2016 6:39 PM in response to DesertRatRby AJ397,What iPhone do you have? Some iPhones need to be plugged in to a charger for "hey Siri" to work. The 6s and 6s Plus are the only models that support "Hey Siri" without being plugged into a power source.-AJ

Jan 12, 2016 6:52 PM in response to DesertRatRby AJ397,With a 6+ you will need to be connected to a power source for Hey Siri to work. Have you tried "training" Siri to your voice yet? Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

I set my phone up to respond to Hey Siri, just like the TV ads. I went thru the entire process. Yet when I say Hay Siri the phone just sits there, unresponsive. Any suggestions? Or is this just another sales idea Apple never took to fruition?
Unless you have the 6S or 6S+, the phone has to be plugged into a power source for Hey Siri to work. Mind you, a mophie charing case works just fine.
I charge my phone in a dock on my nightstand. I frequently use Hey Siri to ask the time, the weather, set an alarm and to adjust my Hue lights.
