Q: My imessage red notifaction circle thing is not popping up even when there are unread texts.

My imessages red bubble won't even show. Even when I just get a message as well. There are a few unread messages still and I haven't even opened my app yet and it still doesn't show the number of notifications from the app. Please help.

    Hi risa212,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPhone. If you are not seeing the red notification badge for unread messages in Messages, you may want to double-check the Notification settings to make sure the badge notification hasn't been turned off:

    Change Notifications settings

Some apps like email or social media apps send frequent notifications, which might affect battery life. If you have Show on Lock Screen turned on for notifications, this also might affect battery life.

To turn off or change notifications, go to Settings > Notifications and select the app. You can also sort your alerts by most recent, order them manually, or group them based on the app.

If you don't see notifications for a specific app

To get notifications, you need to be connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. If you’re not getting notifications for a specific app, try these steps:

    1. Make sure that the app supports notifications. Go to Settings > Notifications, select the app, and make sure that Notifications are turned on.
    2. Make sure that you’re signed in to your Apple ID on your iOS device. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and enter your Apple ID and password.
    3. Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and tap Manual if it's turned on.
    4. If you’ve recently installed an app or restored from a backup, open the app to start getting notifications.
