Earplugs or phone?

I got some new, off brand earplugs, and every time I move or the cord moves my phone will go to Siri, fast fast forward a song, change songs, pause, ect. This has also happened with other earplugs but I don't know if it's because of the earplugs or just the phone itself (a regular 6) I've had the phone for a year now. I've tried resetting my phone and reset my settings it none of that has worked. I have also had some other problems with my phone lately (vibration is weird) and that makes me think maybe it's the phone and not the brand of earplugs.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPhone. Headsets (both Apple and third party) use the contacts in the headphone port for signaling things like changing songs or Siri activation, so if you continue to have intermittent but persistent issues, you may want to check the port for any debris as well as test it with a known-good pair of headphones (preferably the Apple included ones).
