Q: IPOD NANO 7TH GENERATION SKIPPING  LIKE SCRATCHED CD

I have an ipod 7th generation and a few days ago it started skipping in the songs. It does not skip the song but the song plays like it is a scratched cd. All the songs are purchased from iTunes and they play just fine on my laptop. I put a new Bluetooth speaker to it and it still does the same thing. Plugged in nano and it is up to date. So I am baffled?? Anyone have an answers as to the problem? Please keep answers in simple terms as possible with exactly what steps to take in fixing this as I am not computer savvy. Thank you in advance.

iPod nano, Windows 10

If you have not already, do a Reset (restart) on the iPod

Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support

    If that does not help...

I put a new Bluetooth speaker to it and it still does the same thing.

If you have not tried using the iPod recently with regular wired headphones, as a test, connect regular wired headphones (that are known to be good) to see if the problem goes away.  If the problem continues with regular headphones, the cause may be data corruption on the iPod's storage.  You may want to try doing a Restore on the iPod using iTunes.  This erases the iPod, reinstalls its software, and sets it to default settings.  The Restore button is on the iPod's Summary settings screen in iTunes.

Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

After the Restore, you can sync your songs back.  If this problem is still there, the cause is likely to be a hardware problem related to sound output.

I did all that. I  had apple support work with me to restore. We removed all the songs and put them back on again. It worked fine for 2 days and now it is starting to do the skipping thing again but not as often as before. Not skipping a song just like I said a scratched cd. Very frustrating. So if it's a hardware problem is there a way to check that?

Doing a Restore reinstalls the latest software and sets all settings to default, so that rules out a software or settings corruption problem.

That leaves a data corruption problem or a hardware problem.  If you just synced the songs back, and the songs play fine in iTunes (on the computer), it's probably not a data corruption problem.

So that leaves a hardware problem.  If you tried regular headphone (that you know are fine on another device), and the problem still occurs, the problem is probably on the iPod side of the connection.

If the problem also occurs using Bluetooth speakers, it must be further "upstream" than the headphones jack.  So maybe the sound output portion of the logic board.

Questions:  If you connect the iPod to power, such as a USB power adapter or the computer's USB port (with the iPod ejected), and play the iPod (while it's connected to power), does this problem still occur?  This is to see if running on battery power might contribute to the problem.

If you do a Reset (a restart) as linked in previous post, and immediately play the iPod, does the Reset make it less likely for this problem to occur (for about "2 days")?
