Q: mail loses connection and login to server repeatedly.

I run three email accounts on my MacBook Pro (2013 Retina) and I lose connection and login fails on all mid session. Then after a while it reconnects and a little while later fails again.  I am at a loss as to how to fix this.

I am running Mac OS X version 10.11. 2

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), Mac OS X (10.6.6)

when this happens have you tried the connection doctor?

Use Mail Connection Doctor - Apple Support

it's probably the easiest way to see if there is a break somewhere between your system and whatever servers are managing your email?

If not I'd look at any 3rd party tools running on your system trying to

    A) prevent a virus (get rid of these on Mac, they are more dangerous than any theoretical virus)

    B) any "cleaning" or "keeping" software (see A)

    C) any network managing or sniffing app (remove them and then test)

    Thanks,

I have turned of my Intego Net Barrier and Virus Barrier but still getting the problem.  Its affecting IMAP but not SMTP.  As you can see from the screen grab.  I use Connection Doctor but all that seems to do is give me visibility of the failure when it happens repeatedly.Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 14.47.05.png

It is not sufficient to merely disable "Intego". It must be completely uninstalled according to its instructions. Only after that will you be in position to diagnose what's wrong with your Mac and fix it.

"Intego" offers no obvious way to uninstall itself. You must use the uninstaller program included with its downloaded installer.
