Germany: Delivery Time

Hi Folks,

is there anybody out how ordered a Macbook Pro (Core 2 Duo) and got it already?
I ordered a new Book five minutes after they had been introduced (by now 4 weeks ago) at an official Apple-dealer. He told me, that Apple supplies first Apple Store customers.
But when will they deliver some distributors? It's hard do wait for such a long time.

Greetz.

Hi Andy,

I'm in Mannheim and waiting since three weeks. I called in today and got the answer the're expecting a large stock end of the week. Sometimes it isn't easy to have the latest and greatest...
Early adopters need much money and patience, this is the same with all high tech products. Things became too complex to be thoroughly tested at reasonable costs, and setting up a streamlined production is so complex, that even large companies, that are in the business since long, can experience difficulties with it. And Apple isn't having extremely long ranging experiences with Intel processors and chipsets. So they are most probably still on a learning curve. Plus, Intel is known for delivery problems of their latest and greatest processors. So maybe, Apple isn't even to be blamed.
I believe we will have the wonder machines in hand within the next week. I hope we will both think that the overall experience is worth the extra waiting time. It reminds me a bit of how hard it was as a child to wait for christmas.

17" MBP C2D hopefully soon. C'mon Apple!

Ordered mine at Theile, Speyer, which is an Apple store. They said they have no 15" and no 17" models before the end of this week. This is tomorrow, so let's see.
I didn't want to order online, because of all the quality issues you kinda expect to experience with some of these systems. I will run the notebook in the store and do various tests, before I take it.
I am planning on converting the entire company from PC to Mac in the longer run, so the impression this first Apple system makes will be crucial for my plan. In this perspective I can't afford to get a lemon and see all Dell users around me with their 3 years-24h-on-site-service warranty point with fingers at the Mac. So, if the system has obvious faults, I simply will not take it but leave it at the dealer for repair or replacement.

Happy waiting to all of us!
