Q: asynchronous after export with fcp 5.1.4

Hi,

I am using a power mac with OS 10.4.11 and fcp 5.1.4.

After exporting a HDV (1080i) sequence - codec H264 or mpeg4 - I get

asynchronous results.

This does not occur with SD material.

Can anybody help?

Rolf

How are you viewing the exported file where you see the problem?

You are exporting the HDV sequence to H.264?

Can you describe the method you are using to do the export?

    Hi Meg,

the sequence is in HDV 1080i, absolute synchronous within the project.

I use quick time conversion for exporting from the menu, export  the movie to H.264 or mpeg-4, frame rate 25 fps (the original one), key frames automatically,

no new frame arrangement, data rate automatically, quality 75 or 50%, best quality. Sound:  AAC, 24.000 kHz, normal quality, constant bit rate 128 kBit/s, quick start for internet streaming.

But the problem also occurs when I export to HDV 1080i or DV-PAL with linear PCM 48.000 kHz.

Whatever I choose: after exporting the clip is asynchronous.

I have never experienced such a phenomena before.

If you export the timeline without conversion, does the audio stay in sync in the exported file?

Yes, when I export the timeline without conversion as a Quick Time Movie with all the actual settings the audio stays sync.

I converted that Quick Time Movie again with mpeg-4 / AAC and the resulting file is sync too.

The difference in the not sync files is about 11 frames.
