MacBook Pro 2015 Battery Life

I have a maxed out 2015 MBP, the advertised battery life is 10 hours, but I don't seem to be getting near that. right now I just have Safari and a couple small apps open, it's at 80% and it says 4:44 hours remaining. If I turn on an app that uses the video card (Radeon M370X) it drops dramatically, I can use half the battery in like an hour just using photoshop etc..

I was just wondering if this is to be expected because of the power of this systems components, or if this is an issue with my battery. I am also curious if they use the same batteries for all 2015 MBPs or if they use more powerful ones for the systems with the more powerful components. This has the 2.8 i7 16GB and the M370X. Thanks for any insight.

The batteries will all be the same for a given model regardless of configuration.

You must understand that the advertising hype for battery run time is based on very non-resource intensive parameters. The more applications that you have open, the more resource intensive they are, the more battery resources will be used. My personal 'real world usage' has always been about 60% to 70% of Apples advertised battery run times.

You may make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the battery evaluated. It will be done for FREE.
