How do you tap Dial after a hard pause?

I frequently use a conference line that requires an account code after you dial the number. I see that you can add automatic pauses to the number, but Apple support also says you can add a stop (which shows up as a semi-colon in the saved number), then press Dial to continue. I see no Dial to press.
