hello, i'm planning to 24k gold plate my iphone 5s in the future, i'm pretty much well aware that this will void my warranty, so i'm responsible for that.
but i want to know more about the surface composition of the metal casing on iphone 5s gold. what carat is it or is it actually gold? if gold, since it is lower than 24k, what are the other components of alloy? i need to know about these.

thanks for the warning of overheating. but i think the gold version being actually gold plated is possible, since gold plating doesn't require a considerable amount of gold metal. think of gold plated headphone jacks, they are actually 24k gold plated. and gold is able to show it's physical appearance at even a really low thickness.

Apple does not sell a gold 5S.
6 & 6S sold by Apple are only gold in color. It is not real gold, like from a gold mine.

whether the surface finish is gold or not, i need to know what exact material it is. since different materials require different plating processes.
i'd be really happy if an apple employee supply me with this information.

Not a huge Kingsley fan so haven't seen that movie. I'll have to check it out.

Actually, what Chris meant was Apple never sold a gold plated iPhone 5S.
McLaren have coated their engine compartments with 24K plate (a few microns thick)
Because of cooling issues 🙂 with lesser metals.
Be aware, plating the iPhone may cause over heating.
It's definitely not gold or the price would more much higher.

Hello deggie, i don't think pure aluminum has a low-carat gold apperance, i know that regular white version is aluminum but wonder what the gold version is.
what exactly is the gold plating on iphone 5s?
