I have several old iPods and docks, but they do not all work together. I'd like to buy an extra dock (used, of course), but want to know which ones are compatible. I've been searching on-line, but have not found a definitive list. Does it exist?
The docs were certainly sold by Apple and each dock has a model number on the bottom (i.e. A1153). Surely there is a way of finding out which dock model number is compatible with which iPod.
Thanks for your reply. I'm actually trying to find out which docks are compatible with a given iPod model. I don't have the dock number (that was just an example I found on-line), but I have the iPod model number (A1288 is one that I have - it's a 2G Touch). My search so far has come up empty.
That's going to be a tall order.
I have two Klipsh docks, both the same model. However, one was upgraded by Klispch before I bought it and that one will charge my 2nd generation Touch. The other one will not.
Both docks will play the music from the iPod.
No, the docks are not made by Apple, and expecting hundreds of manufacturers to produce a list.is unlikely.
