Q: Is my current software compatible with FCP

Hello everyone. I currently running FCP 6.0.6. I recently upgraded my OS X software to El Capitan version 10.11.2 and I was wondering if this is a compatible software for FCP. The reason I'm asking is because I launched FCP and began to download footage from the Log and Transfer option from my SD Card and FCP crashed 3 times in row. Just curious to find out if that would be causing the issue. Also, if FCP 6.0.6 is not compatible with OS X El Capitan is FCP 7 compatible? I'm trying to avoid FCP X if possible and I'm not even entertaining the idea of transitioning to adobe products. I guess you could say I'm hanging on as long as I can. Thank You all for your time.

FCP 6?  That's over 7 years old. And the last supported OS for that version was 10.5.  I think it worked fine on 10.6.8...that was the last that officially supported FCP 7. Then FCP classic was discontinued...so the next OS versions...10.7, 10.8 10.9, 10.10 and now 10.11 were all written NOT taking into account compatibility with earlier versions of FCP...only making sure FCX worked.  So every OS update is a step away from full compatibility.  So yeah. there will be many things that don't work about FCP 6 in 10.11.  So if you need FCP 6 working perfectly, you need to keep an older OS.
