Q: Will I lose my iTunes photos if I enable iCloud storage?

I Currently back up photos to iTunes and want to enable iCloud photo storage.  When I turn the button on, it says I will lose over 1000 photos From iTunes.  How do I make sure I dobt lose these photos and ensure they are part of cloud storage.

The photos that warning is referring to are photos that you currently have on the phone that were transferred to the phone by using iTunes to sync them from the computer. They will be deleted from the phone but will not be deleted from the computer. There is more information on this in section titled "What if some of my photos are missing after I turn on iCloud Photo Library" in Get help with your iCloud Photo Library - Apple Support Note that section also has instructions on how you could return those photos to your phone by manually uploading them to iCloud where they would then sync back to your phone (although that may be time-consuming for 1,000 photos).

In addition to synced photos being deleted from the phone (which is what the warning message that you are seeing is about), note that after you turn on iCloud Photo Library, a backup of the phone via iTunes will no longer include the photos. That is discussed in the section titled "iTunes backups" in the following link: About backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
