Pictures I took on the Live Photo mode have turned into videos now. I do not know what caused this. How Live Photos work is you take a picture. Then you go into your camera roll and you can 3d touch to view a second before and after the picture has been taken. BUT NOW MY RECENT LIVE PHOTOS TURNED INTO VIDEOS. Why?

I am having the same issue. All my pictures that were previously taken as live photos (that used to allow me to press and hold) now have been turned grey and show as videos on my phone, however on the icloud - the show as photos. I've searched numerous websites and still haven't found an answer.
FOUND A FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME!!!
I turned off my live option on my camera, restarted the phone, and everything was back to normal. I then turned the feature back and it works fine!!! hope this helps
I was trying to take screen shots of my live photo but it saved a copy of the live picture as a video which I want to do again but can't figure out how. Every site says I need Lively, but I did it without it!
Hi, I am currently having this issue. Did you find a positive solution?? I tried turning off live photos, then restarting my phone, but they were all still there as videos, and some of my photos are missing. I never plug my phone into my computer, I only did once to charge it and figured id upload everything because I never had. I'm nervous I ruined my photos 😟
You should be able to see them without using 3D touch, that might be why they turn into videos. Just take a live photo and then go into your camera roll, select a different picture and then slide back to the live photo. You will then be able to see it move for a brief second. Live photos are still in the beggining stage, so they will have some bugs.
I just tested this out on my 6S and I don't have that issue.
Are you sure you're not taking a video instead of live photos.
No, Live Photos that I KNOW that were taken as photos from months ago turned into videos for some reason. When I test new Live Photos, they were fine, but pictures from before turned into videos
No, it is an actual video now, where you press start to play. How I know they are videos are because of how bad the quality of video it is. I know how live photo works, it's just I dont want to lose the photos from before.
Of no help to you at all other than to let you know I have exactly the same issue. All my live photos taken since I got my iPhone 6s are now videos not photographs.
The only place they appear as photos is in iCloud.com. On my phone and on Photos on OSX they are videos.
SSame here. And that extra S is courtesy of my iPhone keyboard that somehow skips around with the cursor upon initial typing. How have they not fixed this yet? Buuuut yes I too am having the same misfortune. Living photos have now not only taken up twice as much space on my phone but ruined some of my favorite photos. Apple god tim ives, in the name of forstall help fix what you've dooooooiione
