Q: Netflix App gitch

We watch Netflix daily. About every second day, when I try to log in to my profile, it freezes while opening and the only fix is to delete the app, re-download and re-sign in. Anyone else having this glitch?

It's not netflix ... it's the apple. I am having issues with all my channels/apps.

Strange. When I pick up my iPhone and start it the Netflix app will begin streaming again on the AppleTV. Intended to view Speed Test. Restarting works for awhile and exiting the app loading another app (i.e. Pandora) and returning to Netflix works.

I have now logged out of Netflix on the iPhone and turned off notifications to see if something is happening between the two devices.

Kilgore, a restart of apple tv doesn't work. I've also tried logging in to another app and then returning, and it doesn't help. The only thing that fixes it is to delete and log back in. It gets stuck in loading mode on my profile and just loads and loads without ever finishing.

I've had issues with Netflix recently too. Mine has been leaving Netflix & ATV4 then turning it back on (say next day) only to have an error message. I have to press the home screen button then open Netflix again. After that, it operates properly...until I turn it off again for the day. It's not a major issue for me, but definitely a bug that I can workaround relatively easy.

After days of issues I tried this old fix to my AppleTV 4 and enjoyed 5+ hours of a Netflix series without a single glitch. I also signed out of Netflix on my iPhone as a extra step.

    1. Start your AppleTVand navigate to Settings => General => Network and click on Configure Network TCP/IP.

    2. Select “Manually” next to Configure DNS IP.

    3. Click “Done” on the IP Address screen and do the same for both the Subnet Mask and Router Address screens.

    4. Configure the DNS Address screen with the following IP address: 008.008.008.008 and click “Done.”

You should now be able to stream Netflix on your AppleTV.

DNS should always be set to auto, you are going to encounter issues when using any other

Well after days of issues, hang ups and delays I had almost 6 hours of trouble free use using the Google DNS. I'll gladly wait this out after wanting to junk the AppleTV.

Well there is a network issue that's gone unresolved. This is simply masking it and using a public DNS is going to introduce more issues in the longrun as you have no control over the server used. You can choose to use it but to offer it as something to other users is not helpful.

Well your observation is accepted but there is nothing like going 12 hours with no stoppages after weeks of frustration. Now if you can give a solution that would be appropriate. Using Googles DNS has been a fix for many since Netflix started streaming. So far no issues with Pandora, NBC Sports, ESPN, ABC News and others.

Assuming it it is not helpful to other users seems a stretch based on my experience. Let the others try it. If it doesn't work it's one click to reset to defaults.

It is not a fix, that's my point. You are simply masking the actual issue. It is a fact that using such a DNS produces issues because it is based off the location of googles server, not your location and this will fluctuate over time (also based on the amount of traffic). There are many users who have it working for a period and then find they can no longer connection, set date/time etc. The point is to find a solution, not a temporary workaround that will end up introducing issues and posting it as such will only confuse other users.
