nnew to Mac. Just setup new iMac and cannot login. How do I reset password?

Is this a new iMac, or just new to you? A new iMac should open to Setup Assistant where you can do all that. It sounds like there was a previous user who didn't wipe the disk, re-install the original OS and de-authorize before selling.
