Migration Assistant has crashed my MacBook

I have bought a new MacBook Pro and wanted to migrate everything from my old white MacBook 2010. I followed the instructions but my old MacBook essentially has crashed and every time I try to reboot it by pressing the power button, it logs in straight to the crashed Migration Assistant. I have tried doing the safe mode thing but it doesn't work. Essentially my computer is useless and I can't get back to a home screen. I have tried to reboot in safe mode about 30 times. My old MacBook has very little Memory left which may have something to do with it.

Can't remember the name but I last updated early last year I think so it is roughly a year old. It is not the very latest but the one before. Wouldn't boot to target did mode either however the instructions I found mentioned holding a button until the spinning wheel shows up however mine never shows up but the apple logo and a line that gets shorter as it gets closer to rebooting. When the line runs out it just always goes straight to Migration Assistant and is crashed. It won't allow a Command Option esc either.

Yes however I can't choose anything. The Mouse hovers over things but pressing or tapping the trackpad on the computer does not do anything. I can't click on any of the option such as File Edit and the tab key just highlights the whole OS X Utilities box but not on separate options. I do have an issue with the trackpad on the MacBook where the press doesn't work but the tap usually does. Multi Gesture works as well. Is there anyway to do a factory reset or something that doesn't kill my hard-drive. Essentially all I want from this computer is about 300Gig of photo's and videos.
