Q: How do I pair my ipencil with the procreate app?

I Have watched the demos of the pencil in use with what is obviously the Procreate app. I have purchased the pencil and the Procreate app but can find no way to add the pencil device to the app. Only my finger works? How do I add the pencil device to the Procreate app?

Assuming you have an iPad Pro, you should be able to plug the lightning connector on the pencil into your iPad's lightning port to pair them. Once you've properly paired the pencil, Procreate should work as expected.  Good luck!

Once you activate Bluetooth on your iDevice, Launch ProCreate.

    Create a new blank canvas.

The canvas should appear with all of the interface elements.

Look to the upper left corner of the Procreate app for a wrench-like symbol.

    Tap on that symbol.

It opens a window where you can pick your type of stylus and then below that is a large circular dot that you tap and hold the stylus to use to pair the stylus to the Procreate app.

    FYI,

Most apps that take advantage of stylii will have some settting from within the app, itself, that you will need to use to pair a stylus to the app.

Every app that uses a stylus input pairs stylii using slightly different methods or settings to do so.

When I open the tools and select devices, the pencil does not show up. I did not see the circular dot you mentioned? Devices listed are jot, fifty-three, pogo, and wacom.

Are you sure Bluetooth is on and the Apple Pencil is staying connected?

If you can't pair the pencil, there is an issue.

Go to the Procreate forums and/or leave an email to the developers about your issue.

The activate dot appears for the other stylii I listed but the Apple pencil is not listed under devices. I am trying to get some help from Procreate support.

    Thank you

I found this about pairing the Apple Pencil with Procreate.

It appears you do not have pair it, at all, from within the app.

Which means maybe there is some issue, perhaps, with your Apple pencil.

I Guess it's working as designed. I think the initial default settings were so far off that nothing showed. After changing settings I am getting a response but I don't  like it and it seems to require a lot of pressure. Maybe I should stick with graphite, paper and paints.

thank you again. I think I am done with this thread.

I use an Adonit stylus with my iPad Pro and painting and drawing apps and don't have to apply a lot of pressure to draw.

Your Apple Pencil could be defective.

Maybe you need to take it back to an Apple Store and try a new one on an iPad Pro there with the Procreate app installed and test both your old one and a new one to see if your Apple Pencil is defective or not and get a another new replacement if the store has Apple Pencils in stock.

    Good Luck!
