USB Ethernet option not available

When I go to Network in System Preferences and click on the "+" sign to the bottom left, I don't see "USB Ethernet" option in the "Interface" dropdown as per this link on Apple support Apple USB or Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapters: First time setup - Apple Support

Here is my product information -

USB 2.0 10/100M Ethernet Adaptor:

Vendor ID: 0x0fe6

Version: 1.01

Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec

Current Available (mA): 500

I am currently on OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.5(14F27). Can someone please point me to the correct driver that is needed? Thank you very much.

Just to clarify, this is an Apple product? If it is, it should just work... It looks like the adapter should show up as a network interface in the side bar, is that correct?

Yeah, I agree it should show up; but it does not. I can use USB to ethernet adapter at work to connect to internet, but I can't use it at home on a different adapter. I read online to that I have to add "USB Ethernet" to Network Preferences, but can't seem to find the option.

Yes. Cables are attached to the computer. The same ethernet cable works well on Windows machine. So it's definitely not a problem with the ethernet cord.

I also am having exactly the same problem with my Apple USB ethernet adapter. It appears from googling that Yosemite doesn't support the USB ethernet drivers yet due to security reasons.

This is annoying. Apple should not sell them if they're not compatible.
