instrument pitch shift??

Overall, I am very frustrated with this version of GarageBand. I used GarageBand on a 06 macbook for years and may end up going back to it because of the little details they have left out on this version.. It's certainly better for mixing and mastering but I wish the continuity of the whole application was the same, or even close to as good as the earlier versions. Anyway:

I'd like to adjust the pitch of any instrument to play along with old records, and songs... A lot of the time, I must use the pitch shifter on the keyboard itself which is very difficult to maintain for more than a few seconds..

I have tried to use the AU Pitch Shifter but can only move it full half steps. I would like to adjust it only slightly sometimes and am not able to do this.

How can I adjust the pitch of instruments in smaller increments than half steps?

What is "this version"? Which version are you using now?

Is this signature still valid? " iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.5)"?

In GarageBand '11 I'd use the "Automatic Tuning" slider on the audio track of the vinyl record you are trying to play along to, so it is in tune with the midi tracks.

In GarageBand 1.1 you can shift the pitch of any track using the AUPitch filter.

Open the SmartControls for the track, and add an AUPItchFilter Audio Unit in the plug-ins section (Audio Units > Apple > AUPitch).

You can adjust the pitch in cents, 100cent would be one halftone step.

I made a mistake, everything is fine.

Sorry. Just anxious to use this program with the ease of old ones. I accidentally slid some base tones a half step down. That was the issue.

So it appears that when I try to loop sections with the modified pitch, it sometimes "lags" in the first measure playing a really funky tone (maybe the nonmodified original tone) and it sounds really funky and bad.

It appears that I will have to record in one shot if this persists which would not be ideal..

This can happen, if the first note in the measure starts in the measure before and the loop is cutting a note into two parts..
