Q: volume automation parameter garageband ipad

Actually, the latest version does seem to support the long-awaited automation capabilities.

Has taken some time for Apple esp. considering other apps like Korg Gadget and Auria support soft synth automation recording/editing, but better late than never. I'm pretty excited to try this release, as I've always loved GB for iOS, and automation means you can do more natively vs. having to export to the desktop GB or Logic.

I am really puzzled. The information says volumen automation is now supported in Garageband IOS, the online help shows it, but i can't seem to find out how to activate it!! There must be something obvious I´m missing!! Any help?

With a song in the tracks view tap the instrument which brings up a menu with the options:

Delete | Duplicate | Rename | Merge | Automation | Show in Grid

Tap Automation, then tap the small icon below the image of the instrument so there is a yellow line shown. At the top left slide the pen like icon to the right. You can now tap on the yellow line to add or remove points and slide those points around. Tap done at the top right to complete the process.

With the pen turned off you should be able to move the current points around but not add or remove any.

Isn't it great, that we finally are having automation curves in GarageBand iOS?   I think, it is thanks to the new Music Memos.app.

GarageBand needs to be able to open the Music Memos,  and the .caf files of the memos contain Tempo automation  curves.

And new instruments.
