Are google apps laggy or is ot just my outdated device

I got a free iPad 2 recently. I mostly use android devices so I use a lot of Google apps. They work great on my android devices but are a huge burden on the iPad. Is it just Google optimizing there apps poorly for apple or is it like that across the board? Also is there any other browser that works well besides safari? I tried chrome and it locked up my iPad. I used to have puffin on my old iPad mini and it was really fast but when I tried in on the 2 it was the same as chrome. Thanks. Oh BTW I'm on the latest iOS update.

Yes, Google apps are really badly optimized on iOS, presumably to make ios users think android is better or something. But it performs even worse on ipads with higher resolution (from my experience). my ipad Air 2 stutters a lot in Google Play Music, when scrolling, in animations, and rotating screen. Same for Youtube, Photos (a little bit only for this), etc.

But your ipad 2 should definitely be extremely slow with google apps. Not only are google apps not optimized, Apple didnt optimize ios 9 well for iDevices as well. Ios 9 is the worst performing ios for these devices, and ipad 2 definitely should suffer. Even my air 2 isn't perfect. ios 9.3 will improve a bit though, but not by much on especially older devices.

Google does nothing to optimize any of its apps for iOS OR OS X.

All of Google wares are horrible resource hogs on Apple products.

Other than the Puffin Web browser, there is no Adobe Flash Player support on iOS.
