Q: Airdrop on MBP not working

Airdrop does not see my iPad (4th gen) or iPhone 6 - AirDrop connects between these devices.  When I open airdrop in the finder on my MBP it does not see anything.  I do not see the options "allow me to be discoverable by:" or "don't see who you are looking for?"  The iPad and iPhone are right next to the MB. I have tried all the recommendations I can find to troubleshoot.  Checked firewall settings, restarted the computer, repeatedly turned off/on wifi & bluetooth.  My system check indicates AirDrop is supported. I am running current software on all devices.  Any ideas why it won't work & why I don't have any options to select below the AirDrop icon in the finder window?  I've included screen shots for reference.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Betsy

Hi there. Your computer is not supported by AirDrop to iOS.

    AirDrop system requirements

To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).

To send items to another Mac, you need:

    • MacBook Pro (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008)
    • MacBook Air (Late 2010) or newer
    • MacBook (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the white MacBook (Late 2008)
    • iMac (Early 2009) or newer
    • Mac Mini (Mid 2010) or newer
    • Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

Use AirDrop to send content from your Mac - Apple Support

    Best regards,

    Austin

hi unfortunately your laptop doesn't support AirDrop i know bummer i felt the same... i have a 13 early 2011 but if you're trying to send and receive photos and videos you can use the app PhotoSync, it works awesome for me hope this helps, its free for the MBP but for your other devices it is 1.99 or 2.99 but as long as you have the same id you just need to buy it once and download them to all your other devices, i have it downloaded to 2 iPads and 4 iPhones and my MBP
