Canon MP830 not recognised as scanner in Yosemite

Hi all,

I have managed to get my Canon MP830 printer to print in all applications (Word / Photoshop) using the Gutenprint Canon servers. But I cannot get the scanner part of the printer to work? Am I missing something? Or do I need to delete some of the old Canon stuff? It's driving me nuts! Any advice gratefully received. I don't mind where I scan to - any application - as long as I can then import that file into Photoshop (Elements 10)

Any help gratefully received!

MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Canon MP830
