Q: how do we reset a macbook to accept a different Apple id ?  i purchased a new one and want to give this one to my son

I have an older macbook about 8 years old.  i purchased a new macbook air and my husband wants to use my old one.  How do we make this connect to his Apple ID instead of mine?

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)
