TWO iPods. ONE Computer

OK.

I have a Windows 10 computer.

I have an old iPod but still working, everything is good so far.

My wife got a new iPod Touch for last xmas.

Now we have a problem to load the music she wants in her device,

iTunes denies any work with her device because "has no authorization" BUT I am sure I authorize my computer for using BOTH devices.

somebody tell me what the H to do, just don't tell me to get another computer or make another apple ID.

I own a Michael Jackson album already... now I want that album in my wife's device too, don't tell me I have to buy the same album again.

Thank you

remember, 2 Different ipods running in ONE family computer.

I am in my windows 10 profile:

- Open iTunes, can work with MY iPod BUT CAN NOT work with my wife's, I can see hers, can play her music but CAN NOT backup or load hers

-I have tried to authorize my computer in order to back it up in my computer BUT can NOT, the authorization process is a very basic one, so I think I covered that. I authorize, no problem apparently, but when I try to back it up... simply can't

I got out from my profile, the get in windows 10 with HER profile expecting iTunes will open a fresh copy of it under her profile... SAME THING !

I can see her iPod, see her music (just 8 songs downloaded directly from the Internet) BUT I CAN NOT work it with my PC, back it up or load it from my CDs or pass some music I bought from iTunes should be an obvious thing.

Thank you !!

Okay, you did not mention to start with that you were dealing with two different Windows profiles as well. Sounds to me as if it has to do with the way that iTunes is loaded on the two profiles. I've read that you cannot have two different iTunes open at the same time in Windows. Are you using Fast Switching in Windows, or are you logging out of one profile and then logging into the other profile? When you installed iTunes, did you do it under each profile, or just the one time as the administrator and allow access by all?

I know someone here that is very knowledgeable with Windows and iTunes. Let me send him a shout and see if he will look at this thread to help.

Hi,

As Chris has stated iTunes cannot be active in two user profiles at the same time. You must close iTunes in the first profile before switching to the other. If you want both profiles to see the same content in the library you can either share your music folder to the other profile or move the entire iTunes folder from your music folder to a common shared location such as C:\iTunes, then press & hold down shift as you start iTunes to connect to the new location from each profile in turn. iTunes remembers the last library opened using this method so you need only do it once in each profile.

See Open a different iTunes Library file or create a new one.

If your wife has created a new Apple ID as part of the process of setting up her iPod Touch, then the computer needs to be authorized to her Apple ID as well as yours. A computer can be authorized for multiple Apple IDs so that shouldn't be a problem. With Windows computers it is the instance of the operating system that is authorized, so if it has been authorized from one profile it should be OK in the other. This is why you should deauthorize your computer before upgrading or reinstalling your operating system, or switching to a new computer.

When you connect an iOS device to iTunes in order to update information on it or back it up it should prompt for you to trust the computer. The owner of the device should be able to unlock it and select trust. If you accidentally chose the wrong option that might explain the difficulty. See http://osxdaily.com/2014/03/24/trust-this-computer-alert-ios/ - perhaps a reset dialog warnings is called for.

When you say you cannot work with the iPod touch can you describe the symptoms in any further detail? Does iTunes open at all? If it does can you add and play media. Does the device appear in Windows (it should if there is at least one image in the camera roll)? Does it show in iTunes? Are there any error messages in iTunes or on the device?

Thanx for your response. I will check your links just after this.

First of all, I just want to use these two devices with my iTunes in my family computer, the easiest way the better regardless OS profiles. I have installed iTunes using Administrative privileges, for all the profiles.

I connect these two devices to my iTunes, I can work with mine with NO problem. I can SEE my wife's ipod touch, I can see her songs and play it using iTunes BUT can not do any transfer or back it up, I can NOT even create a new playlist, I just inserted a CD in order to transfer the song to this new ipod BUT nothing.

I am sure I am "authorizing" my computer in iTunes, and I get the message that says I just authorized my computer to this device but when I try to back it up or pass some song I receive the "no authorization problem"

TIA

Enable the menu bar with Ctrl+B if hidden.

Connect the iPod touch.

Try File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from <Device Name>.

What happens? What is the exact text of any dialog box. (Don't post any personal information.)

Are your sure your wife hasn't created a different AppleID it is asking you to authorize?

What happens if you use File > Devices > Back up?
