I am tryint to upgrade an old iMac 20" flatpanel to El Capitan from Snow Leopard and I undoubtedly did something that has changed or corrupted the password.
I have a disc copy of Snow Leopard but do not see anywhere to reset the password
Has this procedure been changed or is it just hidden somewhere?

Forgot something previous. It is the Administrator Password that I need because the OS Install requires this to do the install.

Boot off the DVD and then go to the Utilities menu. Select Reset Password, select the admin account, and then change the password. Restart normally.
That did it Eric. I has been so long since I have had to use that particular capability that I disremembered it had to be "Boot from disc" rather than the HD.
It took over an hour to install 11.11 and have as yet to get it to open. Will look at this tomorrow.
