Q: moving photos from iCloud to Photos albums

I am trying to load photos from an iCloud shared album (that someone shared with me) into an album on my desktop so that I can create a photo book (hard copy).  I cannot seem to move the pics from the cloud onto the desktop.  I've tried click and drag, tried importing (I end up with a spinning ball of doom) and cannot figure out where in a help menu my questions might be answered.  Help?

    Are you using Photo for Mac, iPhoto, or Aperture?

     

    In Photos for Mac open the Shared Album, then ctrl-click one of the photos.

    You should either see the option "Show in Library" or "Import", depending on if the photo is already in your library or not. Import all photos that need importing. Then ctrl-click each one of them again and use "Show in Library". When you see it revealed in the library use "File > Export" to save it to a folder.
