how can i stop OS X installer and go back

I have tried to up grade to El Captian on Macbook pro 17 inch. It says OS X could not be installed on your computer. File system verify or repair failed. How can i just go back to old system for now.

To go back:

- backup your data

- Download the appropriate OSX installer. They should be listed in the Purchased section of the Mac App Store if you previously downloaded them with the ID you are using.

- Make a bootable USB media using the following:

DiskMaker X

- Boot from that media

- Format the startup disk and install OSX from the bootable media

- Restore your data

If you can't download the installer the boot to Recovery

and backup your data. You can use Disk Utility to restore the currant installation to an external disk

Disk Utility (El Capitan): Restore a disk image to a disk

Then use Disk Utility and try to repair the HD. If it can be repaired format the HD and install OSX via Recovery.

Then restore your data
