Q: Why is my number on message settings on send and receive showing up grey and has a loading sign next to it??

Why is my number on message settings on send and receive showing up grey and has a loading sign next to it?? I am trying to figure out how to receive/send my messages as iMessage because i am currently only receiving and sending them as txt messages and I don't want that!

    This is because your iMessage has not completed activating. If you look in Settings>Messages and under iMessage it should say something to the effect of waiting for activation.

     

    This can happen when using a non-supported carrier. iMessage activation requires that an international SMS be sent by the phone and received to the UK server, and that is what will activate your number. Non-supported carriers normally will not allow the SMS, so you cannot activate. If you are using a supported carrier, then see this support document, after waiting 24 hours for the number to activate.
