The first support guy I spoke to did say there may be 3rd party 'things' which may help recover. The second guy denied that.

I have called the data recovery people from yellow pages in London who have said they cant help. Does anyone know whom else I can contact regarding this please.

ok... I will try here one more time.

I suggest you call Apple. Do not mention that your iPad is locked up. Simply ask them to check on your iCloud account to see if you have backup there.

Tell them you are hopeful one is there and would like them to check. They will ask you your 3 security questions for your Apple ID. This is to ensure that you are the account holder.

After this, they can check your iCloud account and tell you if there is a backup there. What date it is from and how large it is. If there is one, after you restore your iPad to factory, you will be able to restore your iPad to whatever state it was in when that backup was made.

Again, do not get into a conversation about what has happened. Ask about your backup.

To suggest that I shouldn't be upset with apple but with myself when Apple has taken the liberty to lock me out of my ipad FOREVER because the password was entered by my kids wrongly when I and my husband were at work (we are both doctors)??

Would you feel any better if your iPad had been destroyed or lost? Same problem. You would have lost all the pictures. You activated a security feature without understanding the ramifications. Your kids caused the security feature to activate. That is not Apple's problem, it is the user problem. Apple provided the tools that you failed to use. No one, not even doctors, should rely on anything important remaining on an electronic device forever. Electronics will fail, not if, but when.

A lot of us have experienced the loss of data.  It isn't a pleasant experience.  I do backup my data more now.

For my iPhone, I use iCloud, iTunes, and dropbox.

Since you have the correct password, I suspect a data recovery firm will be able to get you data back.  It will not be inexpensive.

Take the iDevice to a professional.
Get a truck load of pennies together and seek professional help.

I doubt either of these work.  The less pounding you do before taking it to a professional the better.

Dear all just a quick update that I got my ipad back today in the state it was in before it got disabled. Thanks a lot to the company who did that for me. I just got them on search for data recovery guys in uk.  It was not cheap but I feel that I have paid a price for my ignorance about the technology but in the end I have felt that I got a second chance from God/life and grabbed it with both hands and am ecstatic!!!

Goes without saying that I have learnt my lesson and will be storing them in multiple formats and also printing the most important ones from now.

So just thought I will let you all know that it is possible to recover the data from disabled ipads even though we have not backed up with iTunes or icloud.

Glad to learn that you were able to get your photos retrieved.

Now ge those photos copied and backed up to a more reliable storage device and/or location.

Glad you got it sorted and it all worked out!

Fonepaw as has been one of the most egregious spammers on these forums. Do you have any personal experience with their software that might override that very bad impression? Or with Dr. Fone?

    That's great!

    iPad software recovery apps.

No.  I did prefix it with:

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as critical. Just wondered if, despite the bad press, the software was ok.

I've dealt with DriveSavers. "Not inexpensive" is an understatement!

I guess I included the two apps in cause the op could not afford professional help.  I though maybe you might remind me of the official line that you need to test everything before recommending it.  I test what I can.
