iPhone 5 not reacting as instructed

Hi,

My iPhone 5 is not reacting correctly. Sometimes I can't scroll and it enters even though I haven't pressed anything. When writing a text, the phone sometimes gets locked, wrong letters are being pressed even though they're not close to each other. Also, it sends the texts sometimes even if I haven't pressed 'Send', takes a few tries to open the phone through the slide function and much more strange things.

In summary, it does not react as instructed. This occurs several times per minute and has been on-going for a day.

I've tried to restart the phone several times. I've update 8.3 and don't want to update it yet as some apps are not yet compatible with 9.2.

Appreciate all help guys.

Hi there ezcph,

It sounds like your touchscreen is not functioning correctly. Either it acts like you're touching the screen when you aren't, or is very delayed in responding to your touch when you do. I would start with quitting all the running apps on your phone:

Force an app to close in iOS

1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that force the phone to restart with the Home and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If the issue persists, then I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help you out:

If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch

Make sure that your hands are clean and dry, then try these steps:

  1. If you have a case or screen protector on your device, try removing it.
  2. Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
  3. Unplug your device.
  4. Restart your device. If you can't restart it, you can force restart your device.

If your touchscreen still doesn't respond like it should, contact Apple Support or take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
